Construction Calculators Without Subscriptions
The Problem
A lot of trade apps now charge by the month or the year. The Construction Master Pro app’s App Store listing, for example, shows $4.99 a month or $39.99 a year for full access (checked October 2026).
That’s a business decision, and plenty of apps earn a subscription. The question is whether a construction calculator is one of them.
What a Subscription Pays For
Subscriptions make sense when the product keeps costing money to run or keeps changing: cloud storage, live data, new content every week, a server doing work for you.
Most construction math doesn’t. Concrete volume is length times width times depth over 27, same as last year. Some things do change: the model codes come out every three years, and prices move constantly. Those are reasons to update an app, not necessarily reasons to rent one.
The Math on Renting
At $39.99 a year:
| Years | Subscription total | One-time $29.99 |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | $40 | $30 |
| 3 | $120 | $30 |
| 5 | $200 | $30 |
| 10 | $400 | $30 |
A tradesperson might use the same calculator for a decade or more. Over a career, the difference is real money.
What to Look For in a Trade Calculator
Pay once, or know exactly what you’re renting. If it’s a subscription, know what stops working when you cancel.
Works offline. Job sites don’t always have signal. An app that does the math on your phone works in a basement or a field.
Shows its math. Accuracy matters more than looks when you’re ordering 40 yards of concrete. You should be able to see the formula and where the numbers come from, whether it’s a concrete slab calculation or wire sizing.
Gets out of the way. Open it, enter numbers, read the answer. No ads between you and the result.
About Free Apps With Ads
Free calculators with ads are paid for by your attention, and sometimes by data about how you use them. Read the privacy label on the App Store listing before you install one.
Trussly’s Model
Trussly costs $29.99, once. No ads, no account, no in-app purchases. It has 85 calculators, works offline because the math runs on your phone, shows the formula and sources for every calculator, and includes voice input, saved jobs, and a budget mode.

Construction Master is a trademark of Calculated Industries, Inc. Trussly isn’t affiliated with Calculated Industries. Competitor pricing comes from their public App Store listing as of October 2026 and may change.
